The Royal Over-Seas League is pleased to announce the winners of the four solo awards (prize of £5,000 each) of the ROSL Annual Music Competition who will compete for the Gold Medal and First Prize of £10,000 at the Competition Final on Monday 3 June, 7pm at the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall:
Peter Moore trombone (UK – Chetham’s School of Music); Morgan Pearse baritone (Australia – Royal College of Music, London) Michael Foyle violin (UK – Royal College of Music, London) and
Sophia Dee piano (UK – Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London).
The Final will be judged by eminent musicians, many of whom are themselves former ROSL prizewinners. They will be: Chairman of Adjudicators Gavin Henderson CBE, Daniel Bates, Juliette Bausor, Edmond Fivet CBE, Dennis Lee, Valerie Masterson CBE, Benjamin Nabarro, Alice Neary, Tom Poster, Anthony Roden, Gemma Rosefield, Colin Stone and Wendy Dawn Thompson. The Awards will be presented by Melvyn Tan.
The evening will also include performances by the winners of two ROSL Ensemble Prizes (£10,000 each) –
The Françoise-Green Piano Duo (UK - Antoine Françoise and Robin Green), and Tempest flute trio (UK – Sarah Bennett, Holly Melia and Helen Wilson).
With a prize fund in excess of £60,000, the ROSL Annual Music Competition for solo instrumentalists, singers and chamber ensembles is one of the UK’s most financially rewarding major classical music competitions.
